Kyocera Rise arrives at Virgin Mobile USA: QWERTY Ice Cream Sandwich at $100

Virgin Mobile has always been a value-oriented carrier here in the U.S. by offering plans starting at $35 a month for unlimited data and texts with 300 minutes of talking. Recently, they have been receiving some very decent handsets with the likes of the LG Optimus Elite, HTC One V, and their best handsets the iPhone 4 and 4s. Kyocera has decided to add to that lineup with their Rise handset. The Kyocera Rise is a $100 smart phone that offers a 3.5 inch 480 x 320 HVGA display, a single-core 1GHZ Snapdragon processor, a 3.2MP camera, with LED flash, 2GB of built-in storage with a microSD slot, a QWERTY keyboard, and stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. These specs are not going to make this handset rise to the top of the QWERTY throne, but it is a very decent QWERTY addition to Virgin Mobile's lineup. We can not say anything for ourselves about its keyboard, but it looks like a decent keyboard. This handset is very similar to the Kyocera Hydro on Boost Mobile, but the Rise does not have the nifty waterproof feature. This handset easily beats the LG Optimus Slider on Virgin Mobile, but the best handsets on the carrier are still the HTC One V and the iPhone 4s. If you want a QWERTY handset on Virgin Mobile that offers decent features at a great price, then the Kyocera Rise is your pick. Moto G: Moto Grrrreat!

Before the Moto X was officially announced, people speculated that it might be offered at an incredibly low off-contract price. Some people even guessed that it would be $199 off - contract . This was sadly not true, but Motorola did say that they would eventually offer a device similar to the Moto X, but with a lower unlocked price. Motorola also said that the cheaper device would be geared towards more markets than the United States, like Brazil and other emerging markets. A New Leaf

Hello everybody; it's been a while. With school, work, and my extracurricular activities, I haven't had as much time as I would have wanted to spend writing. In the two years since I've last posted, I was vice president, president, and varsity captain for my high school's Academic Decathlon team, went to the California state Academic Decathlon competition twice, was a student commissioner for my city's Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, a speech coach for Chinese students learning English, earned my Eagle Scout rank, and was accepted into my dream school, the University of California San Diego.
